Travel During the Middle Ages
From March 20 to June 6, 2015
Planning a trip to Florence between March 20 and June 6, 2015? Don’t miss this fascinating exhibition illustrating what travelling was like during the Middle Ages! The exhibition is part of the project “The Middle Ages Travel” developed in collaboration with the museums belonging to the Réseau des Musées d’Art Médiéval (Musée de Cluny in Paris, the National Museum of the Bargello, the Museum Schnütgen of Cologne and the Museu Episcopal of Vic). The works of art provide many cues to evoke travelling during the Middle Ages – not just through iconographic depictions of real or fantastic voyages, but also through a number of objects that once accompanied the large number and great variety of travellers in the Middle Ages, driven by the quest for redemption, money or glory.
